Carolyn Pletsch

Carolyn Pletsch is the Interim Manager of the Centre for Families, Work and Well-Being at the University of Guelph.  Over the coming year Carolyn will provide strategic direction for the Centre, and collaborate with faculty, staff and a variety of community partners in building and carrying out research and outreach activities. 

 Carolyn has a background in business development, human resource and organizational development, program evaluation, and project management. She has 15 years of general management experience most recently as the ED of the Ontario Agricultural Training Institute.  Carolyn's work at the Centre in past years has spanned most of the theme areas.  Her current focus is on work and disability.  Carolyn has consulted nationally as a board of director's trainer, on issues related to governance and organizational development as well as educational program design.  Her newest obsession is web 2.0, particularly its potential as 'social' technology.  Carolyn serves on the Board of the Volunteer Centre of Guelph-Wellington.

 Carolyn has a Masters degree in Continuing Education and Human Resource Development from the University of Calgary, a Certificate in Human Resource Management from the Human Resource Professionals Association of Ontario and is currently completing a Doctorate in Rural Studies in the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, at the University of Guelph.  Her research focus is rural governance practice, particularly partnership development in the non-profit sector.
